Why does kissing this man feel like the best worst decision I’ve ever made?

Was it because of the adrenaline that was still racing through her system?

Maybe partly.

But not entirely.

When she touched her lips to Dante’s, it set off a million fireworks in her belly.

For once in her orderly life, Sage wanted to be reckless. To take what she needed and not think about all the what ifs. To just feel the moment.

To submit her control to someone else. To someone who made her feel more than she’d ever expected to.

Sage hadn’t had anyone care about her in years. Not since the end of her marriage. No one to lean on but herself.

And Dante’s words touched something deep inside of her. Something she thought had long since died with all the losses she’d experienced in her life.

This man was different. And even though his macho attitude ticked her off, and they bickered like crazy, there was something about his confident manner and his cocky smile that just got to her.

He made her feel safe, seen, and downright desirable. Like she’d finally met her match.

Sage might have kissed him first, but Dante quickly took control, his tongue sucking on hers.

All the reasons why this was a bad idea vanished.

He ran one hand over her hip, squeezing and rubbing, then up over her ribcage. Finally, Dante cupped her breast and she let out a loud moan.

“Change of plans. My cottage. Now,” Dante whispered against her lips.

Sage nodded and the next thing she knew, she was hauled over Dante’s shoulder, and he was carrying out of the clubhouse.

She should’ve resisted but instead, she decided to play dirty.

Dante’s tight ass was right there in front of her, and she reached out with both hands to grab hold.

Dante’s body jolted but he kept walking at a fast clip. “You can tease all you want, baby, but punishment’s coming.”

Then he slapped her ass, hard. Sage liked the bite of pleasure mixed with pain. She wanted more.

“Promises, promises,” she replied as she slipped her hands underneath his jeans to grab a handful of his gorgeous, naked ass.

Dante’s pace picked up considerably and Sage laughed.

When was the last time she laughed like that? In general, or in bed?

A long, long, time.

Then Dante reached a set of stairs and thirty seconds later, she found herself entering his cottage. Not that she could see much given that she was still upside down. But once they stepped inside, Dante carefully slid her off his shoulder and she had a moment to look around. His place was small but cozy and clean. Everything was neat and orderly, and Sage suspected that was his military training still in place. The house smelled nice too.

“Where’s the bedroom?” she asked as she slid her arms around his neck and kissed him again.

“I’m gonna ask one more time. You sure?”

She was surprised. After all, she was here.

“As long as we’re clear about what this is.”

“It’s fucking,” he stated at he stared at her intently.

“Exactly,” she whispered. “We’re under a lot of stress.
